Monsanto shares fall AGAIN

Shares of life sciences firm Monsanto Co. fell on Monday after the company
offered little news during a widely anticipated analysts' meeting in New York,
analysts said.

``Nothing really new came across as far as I can tell,'' said Leslie Ravitz
who follows Monsanto for Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. ``What they came out
with today was a chart that showed flat EPS for 1999. What they're saying is
they've got a lot of expense bills in 1999, and 2000 will be the first year
that earnings are going to improve on an EPS basis.''
